Greenwich Peninsula 5 miler: Around the O2 Arena
The Greenwich Peninsula 5 miler is a 5 mile road race held on the Greenwich Peninsula, with the O2 arena as a prominent landmark. The course is a two-lap route that stays largely on park paths and riverside paths and is described as flat and fast.
The route leads from the O2 area through Central Park, passes the Pilot pub and Peninsula Park, then crosses toward Southern Park and the Ecology Park. Runners follow the path next to the River Thames along Olympian Way, with views across the river on the right, before returning to the front of the O2 where Waterview Drive and Peninsula Square connect into the loop. The route continues past a Tesco Express, up Phoenix Avenue, and back to the start path to complete the second lap.
Included with entry are a finishers medal, a snack, water and published photos and official times. Race registration and number collection take place at the start area near Studio Weave (SE10 0FR) in Central Park on the Greenwich Peninsula; numbers are available from one hour before the race. The event is organised by Run Happy Run Healthy and entry is via LetsDoThis. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
