47th Annual Greater Goldsboro Road Run
The Greater Goldsboro Road Run - Run for a Child is an established athletic tradition in North Carolina, having been held almost every year since 1979. Organized by the Sunrise Kiwanis of Goldsboro, the event functions as a fundraiser to support children and youth organizations within Wayne County.
The race routes are located in downtown Goldsboro, with the start and finish area situated at The Hub, located at the intersection of Center and Chestnut Streets. The courses are USATF certified and primarily follow streets lined with local flora such as azaleas and dogwoods. The event utilizes electronic bib timing provided by Run the East LLC for accurate results.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 10K running race
- 5K run or walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The 5K and 10K races follow specific age categories ranging from under 15 to 75 and over. Trophies and medallions are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age group. All participants in the 1 Mile Fun Run receive a medal.
Race t-shirts are provided to all individuals who complete the pre-registration process. Registration packets can be collected on the morning of the event at The Hub or during a designated early pickup window the evening prior at the downtown Goldsboro Fire Department.
