Event overview
The Greater Goldsboro Road Run - Run for a Child takes place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Goldsboro, NC. The event is organized by the Sunrise Kiwanis of Goldsboro as a fundraiser for local children and youth programs. It is the 47th annual running of the event and has been held annually since 1979, except in 2020. Routes are downtown and start near The Hub at the southeast intersection of Center and Chestnut Streets. The course is USATF certified and is primarily along streets lined with azaleas and dogwoods.

Timing is electronic using bib timing provided by Run the East LLC. Race t-shirts are provided to participants who pre-register. Early pick-up for registration packs is available the evening before at the downtown Goldsboro Fire Department garage entrance.
Registration, fees and awards
Online pre-registration closes March 25, 2026; hard-copy pre-registration ends March 26, 2026. Entry fees for the 5K Walk, 5K Run, and 10K are $30 for pre-registration and $40 for race day registration. The 1-mile Fun Run pre-registration fee is $20, with a family rate of $15 each for two or more immediate family members. Awards for the 5K and 10K include trophies and medallions for overall places and medallions for top three in each age group. The 1-mile Fun Run awards a medal to each participant.
