About the race
RGV Great Strides 2026 is a community fundraising walk and 5K event held by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in McAllen, Texas on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The event supports foundation research and care aimed at advancing a cure for cystic fibrosis and raising funds locally toward a stated goal.
The event offers two distances:

- 5K
Registration options and notes are listed for the event: the 5K run entry fee is $35 and the walk is free. 5K registration includes a race shirt, a custom finisher medal, an official race bib, chip timing for the 5K, and age group awards. Finisher medals are distributed at the finish line only and will not be mailed. Registration fees are non-refundable, including in the event of nonattendance or cancellation due to circumstances beyond organizer control. Events may be changed or moved to a virtual format for health or safety reasons; sponsors and logistics may be adjusted accordingly.
