Great Appalachian Valley Race: Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
The event takes place on July 18, 2026 at Shippensburg Township Park, 304 Britton Rd, Shippensburg, PA 17257. It offers multiple distance options on a rail trail course that is described as flat, fast and scenic. The course is an out-and-back route with clearly marked turnarounds.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Combo 5K and 10K
All entries include a t-shirt, finisher medal and a pair of running socks. First time half marathon and combo finishers receive a commemorative plaque. There will be food and drink available after the race, free finish line photos and live results by text, email or online. Personalized bibs are available for registrants who sign up at least three weeks in advance.
Aid stations are provided every 2 miles beginning at mile 2 and will offer water and Gatorade. Runners and walkers are encouraged to carry their own hydration and fuel and to place race waste in or near on-course garbage cans after aid stations or carry it to the next station. A four hour time limit applies to all events. An early start option is available for the half only; early-start participants are not eligible for awards.
