The Great Appalachian Valley Race takes place on July 18, 2026 at 304 Britton Rd, Shippensburg, PA 17257. The event includes the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Combo 5K and 10K
Registration includes a race t-shirt, finisher medal and running ankle socks for all entrants. There is a 4 hour time limit for all events. A military discount of 10% on race entry is available for service members and certain family members. Pre-race packet pickup is available the day before at the start/finish area, and race morning pickup is also offered at the event.
Course, services and awards
The course starts at Shippensburg Township Park and follows the rail trail as an out-and-back route described as flat and scenic. Turnarounds will be clearly marked. Aid stations will be provided every 2 miles, offering water and Gatorade; runners and walkers are encouraged to carry their own hydration and fuel. Finish-line services include food and drink, live/text/email results, free finish-line photos and personalized bibs if registered three weeks in advance. First-time half marathon finishers receive a commemorative plaque. Awards are given to top overall M/F/X and top 3 in age groups, with a non-binary registration option and corresponding award categories.
