Great Appalachian Valley Race Half Marathon, 10K and 5K
The Great Appalachian Valley Race offers multiple distances on a rail trail in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. The event is held at the Race Site located at 304 Britton Road and uses the Shippensburg Township Park as the course start. The route follows a rail trail in an out and back format on an easy, flat surface through scenic countryside. Turnarounds are clearly marked.

Participants receive a race t-shirt, finisher medal and running socks. First time half marathon and combo platter finishers receive a plaque. Amenities include aid stations with water and Gatorade every two miles starting at mile two, food and drink after the race, free finish line photos, live text and email results, and personalized bibs for those who register in advance. There is a four hour time limit for all events. Awards are available by division with overall winners and age group awards; there will not be a formal awards ceremony and awards can be picked up after finishing.
The event notes a service member discount on entry fees and offers optional purchase protection for registration refunds under specified circumstances.
