Grand Canyon Trail Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k : October 25, 2025
The event takes place in Tusayan, Arizona, near the Grand Canyon South Rim, with the start/finish and race festivities staged at the IMAX Visitor Center (450 AZ-64, Grand Canyon Village). The program includes a full marathon (two laps of the course), a trail half-marathon (about 13.1 miles), a 5k, a children’s 5k and a virtual race. Proceeds support the Tusayan Fire District and the Grand Canyon Food Pantry. Race items include a souvenir medallion, a long-sleeve race shirt and post-race refreshments; finishers receive two beer pours at the beer garden.
Course, terrain and race logistics
The courses remain on the Coconino Plateau and within Kaibab National Forest and the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni National Monument area. Surfaces are mixed: paved sections, concrete sidewalk, gravel lot and mostly hard-packed and soft dirt forest service roads with rocky and technical sections. The half-marathon is a clockwise loop that keeps the more difficult sections early; marathoners run two laps. The half route is listed at roughly 13.1–13.2 miles with a total ascent near 556 ft and maximum elevation near 6,729 ft. Aid stations are located at multiple points on the half course and the 5k has a water station at the turnaround (about 1.55 miles). Pets are not allowed on course and chair access is limited. Local partners and permits support on-course safety and logistics. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
