About the race
The Gran Vuelta Valle del Genal is a trail running event that offers two main race formats on circular routes through the Valle del Genal.
Distances and elevation gain:
- 129 km, 6300 m positive elevation gain, circular route
- 53 km, 2800 m positive elevation gain, circular route
The 129 km format is also contested as a relay race in which teams of three runners alternate on the same circular course divided into four sectors. Each format has a maximum allowed time to complete the course.
Race operations take place in local villages of the Genal valley. The trail format uses Benalauría as a venue for race activity, while the ultra and relay formats use Parauta for organisation and finish operations. The event programme includes bib collection and participant reception before the races, aid stations and checkpoint logistics along the route, and an award ceremony and finish closure after the races.
