About the race
The 16th annual GOVX San Diego Half Marathon & 5K takes place on March 21, 2027, at 100 North Harbor Drive in San Diego, California. The event offers in-person and virtual options.

The half marathon course includes five miles of waterfront, passes through four historic communities, goes through three San Diego parks, covers two miles in downtown San Diego, and finishes in the Gaslamp District. The 5K is a flat, fast loop in downtown San Diego that starts near the San Diego Convention Center and finishes in the Gaslamp Quarter.
The half marathon has a 3.5 hour time limit and requires participants to maintain a 16:02 minute per mile pace or faster. The 5K has a 1 hour time limit and requires a 19:21 minute per mile pace or faster.
Race entries include a technical short sleeve shirt, a custom finisher medal, a reusable In Motion Events grocery bag, support stations on course, chip timing with live tracking, and pre race expo and packet pickup. Finish line amenities include canned water, a finisher food bag, ice cold Hollandia Dairy chocolate milk, and a finish line festival with a DJ, vendors, and photo backdrops. The half marathon features a Legacy program with event perks for those who register by 2/12/27.
Team scoring applies to the half marathon only. Teams must have at least ten half marathon participants and include athletes from at least two different gender categories. Team scores average each team’s top ten chip times and awards are given to the top three overall teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
