Event overview
The GOVX San Diego Half Marathon & 5K is the 15th annual edition, scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 100 North Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA. The event offers in-person and virtual options for both distances. Packet pickup and a pre-race expo are part of race weekend.

Course and format
The half marathon course includes five miles of waterfront, passes through four historic communities and three parks, covers two miles in downtown San Diego, and finishes in the Gaslamp District. The 5K is a flat loop in downtown San Diego that also finishes in the Gaslamp District. Support stations are placed along the route. Chip timing and live tracking are provided. Time limits and minimum pace requirements apply for each race.
Entry benefits and race-day features
Race entry includes a technical short-sleeve shirt, custom finisher’s medal, a reusable event bag, and a one-day pass to a Columbia employee store. Finish line amenities include canned water, a finisher food bag, and a carton of Hollandia Dairy chocolate milk. A Finish Line Festival features a DJ, vendors, and photo backdrops. The half marathon is part of the 2026 SoCal Triple Crown.
Team scoring
Team scoring is available for the half marathon only. Teams must have at least ten people and include at least two of each gender to qualify. Team scores use the average of each team’s top ten chip times, including at least two of each gender. Awards are given to the top three overall teams.
