48th Annual Goose Day 5K Run
The Goose Day 5K is a long-standing running event held in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, as part of the regional Goose Day festivities in late September. The race takes place on a flat, fast course that winds through the south end of the city, starting from Monument Square near the Old Mifflin County Courthouse.
Participants compete for several awards, including trophies for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in the masters category for those aged 40 and over. Competition is also organized into nine specific age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over, with awards provided to the top three finishers in each bracket.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km run
Pre-registered participants are provided with a technical race t-shirt. The event is organized by the Juniata Valley Striders, and proceeds from the registration fees are used to fund local youth and high school running initiatives. These programs include youth running clubs and the provision of four annual scholarships for graduating student-athletes from Mifflin and Juniata Counties who participate in cross country or track and field.
