Goodwill 5K Run & 2-Mile Walk
The 2027 Goodwill Run, presented by Frontier Waste Solutions, marks the 40th anniversary of the event and recalls its origins in 1987. The event is a fundraising race held at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, TX, with an in/out course along the Corpus Christi bayfront. It is described as the largest fundraising event for Goodwill in South Texas and typically attracts more than 900 participants from across Texas. Revenue supports Goodwill’s free employment and training programs for South Texans with disabilities or other barriers to employment.
Event formats include a 5K run and a 2 mile walk, with additional student entry categories. Participants receive a commemorative race t-shirt and a swag bag; t-shirt sizes are limited and the first 250 registrants receive an 1980s slap bracelet and a sweatband. The live event entry fee is listed as $30 and online registration closes on March 7th. Packet pickup takes place the day before the race at La Palmera Mall in the parking lot behind Dillard’s using a drive through format to distribute bibs, shirts, and programs.
Awards at the live event include 1st through 3rd place medals in the 5K and trophies for the 2 mile walk. The 5K awards are divided by male and female age groups and there are overall and masters awards for top male and top female. New for 2027 is an 1980s costume contest with multiple prize categories.
