About the race

Goldsborough Goldrush is a trail running event held along the rainforested Goldfields Trail at Goldsborough Valley Day Use Area in Wooroonooran National Park. All courses are out-and-back routes that follow earthen tracks and rainforest trails.

Distances offered:

  • 5 km Nugget along the flat grassy Mulgrave River Valley floor.
  • 10 km Eureka continuing into shady rainforest on a wide undulating earthen track.
  • 17 km Causeway Crusade reaching the East Mulgrave Causeway turnaround.
  • Marathon Goldrush Marathon following a historic trail, crossing multiple creeks and climbing over a saddle between Bartle Frere and Bellenden Ker with approximately 1,115 m overall elevation.

Runners must be self-sufficient on course; marathon runners are advised to carry water and nutrition and expect technical trail after the causeway and significant elevation. Water bottles can be refilled at the checkpoint at Babinda Boulders and at creeks along the route. Mobile reception is patchy on course and is non-existent at the start-finish area.

Participants can camp in the park with bookings through National Parks. After the event there is a communal barbecue brunch or lunch. Registration closes Wednesday 9 September 2026 at 22:00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
