Glow in the Garden 5k

Glow in the Garden 5k is a chip timed community run that follows the Rock River Recreation Path near Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens in Rockford, Illinois. The course runs north along the river, continues into Loves Park on local streets, and returns to the conservatory. The route is described as flat and scenic.

The event features multiple glow elements along the course, including black lights, laser lights, uplights, and other glow surprises. Most areas will be lighted, and participants who prefer extra visibility may bring a flashlight or headlamp. Strollers and dogs are not allowed because of the path width and expected number of people.

Registration for the 5K includes a T-shirt and an admission ticket to Nicholas Conservatory. Fee tiers include an Early Bird rate, regular online and in-person rates, and a day of registration fee; day of registration accepts cash or card. Packet pick-up is scheduled at Nicholas Conservatory on the day before the race and additional pickup is available at the race start.

A free Kids 100 meter fun run runs from the glowing pillars outside Nicholas Conservatory to the glowing arch; no prior registration or check-in is required. Additional event features include a free trolley shuttle with donations appreciated, food trucks, an awards presentation at the glowing arch, and wishing lanterns available for purchase for use on the Eclipse Lagoon.
