About the race

The Gloucester Mountain Man TriChallenge is a multisport event held in Gloucester, New South Wales. The race uses a nonstandard triathlon format with three distinct legs across local terrain: a mountain bike stage, a river paddle and an off-road run.

The course details are:

  • 22 km mountain bike ride on mountain and 4WD roads, creek beds, cattle tracks, rainforest and open country
  • 11 km kayak paddle down the Barrington River
  • 9 km trail run, mostly off road back into town

The event began in 1991 and, in 2026, marks its 32nd running. It is organized with substantial local involvement; the event typically has in excess of 250 volunteers from groups such as SES, Rural Fire Brigades, service clubs, churches and the local high school who assist with marshalling and event operations. Race weekend includes registration and a carbo dinner on the Saturday before the race.

The location features rivers, Barrington Tops National Park, state forests and rainforest areas, and the course highlights these local natural environments. The event is presented by Fully Rad Adventures, an outdoor event company that manages several outdoor and adventure races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
