Glenbarrow (B&I Trials)
Glenbarrow is a point-to-point trail event in County Laois scheduled for Saturday 25 July 2026. The main route covers approximately 7.7 km with about 220 m of ascent through Coillte forest and passes several waterfalls including the Clamp Hole waterfall and Gallaghers Mill Site. The course is fully marked and GPS devices are not allowed.
There are three routes on the day:
- 7.7 km Long Course and U20 Trial Route
- 6.4 km U18 Trial Route
- 3.2 km Short Course
The U20 route is open to senior runners and eligible junior athletes born in 2007 and 2008. The U18 route is restricted to trial athletes born in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012; athletes born in 2012 may participate but cannot qualify for the B&I U18 team. The short course includes forest trail, boardwalk and technical running; U10 entrants must be accompanied on the route by a guardian or parent.
Mandatory kit is Level A: a showerproof, windproof jacket must be carried; organisers will confirm the final kit required on the day. Failure to carry required kit may result in denied entry or disqualification and random checks may be carried out. Parking is at Glenbarrow carpark with overflow at the festival field about 750 m from registration. The event forms part of the Southeast League and will host the 2026 British and Irish Mountain Running Championship Trials. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
