Glacier Half Marathon : Glacier National Park area
The Glacier Half Marathon is a 13.1 miles point-to-point road race held near Glacier National Park on June 27, 2026. The course runs along the park’s eastern border, begins about 1.3 miles east of Kiowa on Highway 89, and finishes on the front lawn of Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier Village.
Most of the route is on pavement with a couple short grass sections. Runners face a long, steady climb in the opening miles up Looking Glass Hill, followed by several miles of downhill running that offer sustained views of Lower Two Medicine Lake. The final section includes a series of hill-climbs and drops before the finish. The course is described as a high elevation route and is supported by five aid stations. There is a four hour course time limit.
Event logistics include an expo and bib pickup at Red Eagle Campground, a Vacation Races campground at Red Eagle with primitive group-style sites, and parking plus shuttles from Charging Home Stampede Park in Browning. There is no parking or drop-off at the start or finish; shuttles serve runners and spectators to the finish area.
The event follows a cup-free, zero waste approach: water and electrolyte coolers are available at aid stations but no single-use cups are provided. Finish-line provisions include a recovery food box, bananas, chocolate milk, and water refill stations. The course is well marked and runners must remain left when running with traffic to ensure safety.
Awards include place medals for top finishers overall and by age groups, while all finishers receive a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
