Event overview

The Glacier Half Marathon is a point-to-point half marathon held June 27, 2026, in the Browning / East Glacier area of Montana. The course runs along the eastern border of Glacier National Park but is not inside the park. The race starts about 1.3 miles east of Kiowa on Highway 89 and finishes on the front lawn of Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier Village. The route is primarily paved with a couple of short grass sections and begins above 5,000 ft elevation. Runners climb for the first 5 miles (a climb of roughly 900 ft near Kiowa), descend from miles 5 to 10 with views of Lower Two Medicine Lake, then face a final stretch with a series of hill climbs and drops. The course is well-marked. There is a 4 hour time limit (about 18.5 minutes per mile).

Logistics, aid stations, and accommodations

Expo and bib pickup are held the day before at Red Eagle Campground (north of East Glacier Park Village); expo and pickup windows are published by the organizer. Race morning parking and shuttles operate from Charging Home Stampede Park in Browning; there is no parking or drop-off at the start or finish. The event is cup-free: aid stations will not provide disposable cups. There are five aid stations, a medic at mile 9, toilets, water, Gnarly Hydrate, Honey Stinger gels, and fruit at later stations. A Vacation Races campground is available at Red Eagle Campground; it is primitive camping with shared fire pits, port-a-potties, potable water, and a strict 9:00 am Sunday check-out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
