GF10 weekend in Grand Forks

Grand Forks Running stages the sixth annual GF10 weekend on August 28-29, 2026. The event offers three measured running distances and courses that use city streets, campus roads, and the Greenway along the Red River.

The distances include:

  • 5K entirely along the North Dakota side of the Greenway
  • 10K starting on the Sorlie Bridge and running through downtown and campus
  • 10M starting on the Sorlie Bridge and running through downtown and campus

The 10K and 10M courses begin on the Sorlie Bridge, pass through downtown Grand Forks, proceed along University Avenue and the University of North Dakota campus, and continue on the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks Greenway. The finish line for all races is at the flood obelisk just south of the Sorlie Bridge.

Event weekend programming includes post-race food and live music on Friday provided by Island Time Steel Drum Band. Organizers state a mission to support active lifestyles for local youth by removing financial barriers, providing complimentary race entries to Special Olympics of North Dakota athletes and partners, and donating net proceeds to youth-focused charities including BIO Girls, the Grand Forks Foundation for Education Grand Forks Marathon Fund, the Grand Forks YMCA Partner of Youth Scholarships, and the Grand Forks Parks and Recreation Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
