About the race
The Waukegan Park District organizes the 11th Annual George Bridges 5K Run/Walk at Hinkston Park, located at 810 Baldwin Avenue in Waukegan, Illinois, on September 12, 2026. The event follows a superhero theme and includes superhero-themed activities such as mask and cape decorating.
Entry requires a fee of $34. Participants receive a race packet and a commemorative race shirt if they register before August 25, 2026. Registration opens August 19, 2026 and closes September 11, 2026. All proceeds will benefit Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County - Waukegan, which supports individuals with disabilities in camps, athletics, health and fitness programs, and related activities.
A free kids race is scheduled before the awards ceremony for children ages 5 to 13. Medals will be awarded to the top overall female and top overall male. Medals will also be presented to the top three females and top three males in the following age categories: 14 years and younger; 15 to 19; 20 to 24; 25 to 29; 30 to 34; 35 to 39; 40 to 44; 45 to 49; 50 to 54; 55 to 59; 60 to 64; 65 to 69; 70 to 74; 75 to 79; and 80 years and older.
