Event Details
The Geist Waterfront Triathlon takes place at Geist Waterfront Park in Fishers, Indiana. Registration is limited to 400 total racers. The event is a USAT-sanctioned race with professional chip timing.
Distances
Participants can choose between several race formats:
- Sprint Triathlon: 500-yard swim, 12.5-mile bike, 3.1-mile run.
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500-meter swim, 25-mile bike, 6.2-mile run.
- Sprint and Olympic Duathlon: A run-bike-run format (1-mile run to start for Sprint; 3.1-mile run to start for Olympic).
- Sprint and Olympic Aquabike: Swim and bike segments only.
- Relays: 2-person and 3-person team options are available for both Sprint and Olympic triathlons.
The Courses
The swim starts from a large beach at the park in the Geist Cove and Geist Reservoir. The bike course uses smooth, open county roads with rolling hills around Geist Reservoir. The run course is on flat, paved pedestrian paths and quiet neighborhood streets. The event provides aid stations in the transition area and on the run course, approximately every 3/4 mile. An optional mass start is available for swimmers who are less confident before the individual time trial start.
Rules and Requirements
The event follows USAT rules. All participants must wear a CPSC-approved helmet on the bike. Wetsuit use is governed by water temperature: they are allowed at or below 78°F, optional but ineligible for awards between 78.1°F and 84°F, and prohibited above 84°F. Personal audio devices like headphones are not allowed during the race. Race day packet pickup and on-site registration only are available starting early in the morning.
Participant Information
All participants receive a race t-shirt, and all finishers get a medal. Awards are given for overall, masters, and grand masters winners in each race category, as well as for USAT age groups in the triathlon. Age group awards for Duathlon and Aquabike are based on participant numbers. Parking is available on-site and at a nearby school lot. The event has contingency plans for weather, which may modify the race format to a duathlon or delay the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
