Winter Triathlon Event Overview

The Gaylord All Outdoors Tri 45 Winter Triathlon is a multi-sport event held at Forbush Corners in Frederic, Michigan. Participants navigate a course designed to test endurance through seasonal disciplines on snow-packed paths and frosty terrain. The competition is open to solo athletes and relay teams consisting of two to three people.

The event features a structured format combining skiing, cycling, and running. Specific distances for the triathlon include:

  • 5k SKATE ski
  • 10k fat-tire bike ride
  • 5k winter trail run

A duathlon option is also available, which excludes the skiing portion and consists only of the 10k fat-tire bike ride and the 5k winter trail run. While the course includes hills, it is designed to be accessible to athletes of various experience levels. Rental equipment for cross-country skiing and fat-tire biking is available through local partners and the host location.

Participants receive a finisher medal and have access to an aid station located at the transition area, which provides water, sports drinks, and snacks. Following the completion of the disciplines, warm snacks and hot beverages are provided. Awards are presented to top overall male and female finishers, as well as winners in ten-year age group brackets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
