Furnace Run Trail Run
The Furnace Run Trail Run celebrates the New Furnace Run Park and Nature Center and benefits the Friends of Shippensburg Community Parks. The event is part of the Cumberland Valley Race Series and takes place at Furnace Run Park on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Distances
- 1 Mile
- 5K run, one loop course around Furnace Run Park, chip timed
The 5K course is a single loop that runs around the park. Surfaces vary and include grass, dirt, and gravel; participants should expect uneven footing. The course includes one stream crossing that is seasonal and usually dry in August. A course map and a course flyover video are available.
Timing and awards are managed by Timber Hill Timing. Finish times are taken with a timing chip worn on the shoe, and gun time is used to determine awards. Runners must wear their timing chip on their shoe and their bib on their chest; failure to do so may result in disqualification. Awards listed for the 5K include overall and masters places plus age group awards with two places per age bracket. No awards are given for the 1 Mile distance.
Entry fees are listed for the 5K with a reduced price for youth 12 and under when the discount code is used by the registration deadline. A guaranteed cotton t-shirt is available for those registered by August 16; registrants may choose a Keystone Trees Not Tees option to substitute a donation to the Keystone Tree Fund instead of receiving a shirt. Online registration closes Friday, August 28. Hosts and sponsors include Furnace Run Park, Friends of Shippensburg Community Parks, Timber Hill Timing, and the Cumberland Valley Race Series.
