Freeport Flash 5K/10K Run/Walk with a Virtual option
The Freeport Flash is the 21st annual 5K and 10K run/walk held on the Butler Freeport Rails to Trails at the Monroe Road trailhead in Sarver, Pennsylvania. The event serves as the primary fundraiser for the Freeport Area High School Cross Country team and includes both in-person and virtual participation options.

- 10K on the Butler Freeport Rails to Trails
- Virtual 5K option
- Virtual 10K option
The course is an out-and-back on the trail and is described as flat and fast. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K, and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Age groups are: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and over.
Registration opens on January 14, 2026. In-person registration fees are $30 in advance and $35 for race day registration. Advance registration deadlines differ by event; virtual entries have a later closing date. Registration and race day check-in are located at Buffalo Nature Center, 154 Monroe Road, Sarver PA. Limited parking is available at the Nature Center and a shuttle is provided from Freeport Senior High School. Restrooms are available at Buffalo Nature Center.
