Freedom Run - Woodward Park
Freedom Run takes place on July 4, 2026, at Woodward Park - Sunset View Shelter in Fresno, CA. The event includes in-person and virtual options and a separate set of races labeled for veterans.
Distances and event types include:
- 4 miles run
- 2 miles run/walk
- 400 yards kids races (ages 8 and under)
- Virtual participation option
- Veterans 4-mile and 2-mile races
In-person entries include an American flag themed participant shirt, water and food at the finish area, chip timing, and top three age-group awards for applicable races. Kids entries note that ages 5 to 8 run a quarter mile and ages 4 and under run a 100 yard dash; kids receive a participant shirt, food at the finish area, and a finisher's ribbon. Virtual participants will receive an event shirt mailed the week after the event; virtual entries do not receive awards and no official results will be posted.
The event will also feature a newly designed commemorative finisher medal; the design is expected in April. Proceeds support Central Valley Honor Flight, an organization that honors local World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans by sending them to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials.
