Freedom 5k : Greensburg, PA
The Freedom 5k is a community 5 kilometer event held in Greensburg, Pennsylvania with an in-person Run and Walk on July 4, 2026, and a Virtual Freedom 5k option with a completion window from July 1 through July 31, 2026. The in-person event starts and finishes at Lynch Field, 526 New Alexandria Road.
The course is an out-and-back trail. Runners and walkers are asked to keep to the right on the trail and on overpass bridges, avoid train tracks, and use provided receptacles for disposable cups at the water station locations. A water station is located before the 1 mile mark on the outbound leg and after the 2 mile mark on the return. The route crosses one intersection where the city will provide traffic control.
Field management includes wave starts based on expected finish times and a capped field of 500 registrants for the in-person event. Timing is provided by Gingerbreadman Running. Awards include overall top three male and female runners by gun time, masters (age 40+) by chip time, walkers and age group awards by chip time. Runner age groups and walker age groups are specified for award placings. Team categories are available with team registration required in advance.
