Freedom 5K - Greensburg
The Freedom 5K is a community running and walking event held July 5, 2027, with an associated virtual 5K option available through July 31, 2027. The in-person activities use Lynch Field (526 New Alexandria Rd, Greensburg, PA) as the start and finish location. Entry for the listed events opened February 14, 2027 and closed March 31, 2027; the published registration fee for those entries is $17.76.
Race operations include timing by Gingerbreadman Running and a pre-race cap of 500 live entries, with a limited number of additional spots reserved for early packet pickup and race day. The course is an out-and-back route with a water station located before the one mile mark outbound and again after the two mile mark on the return. Participants are asked to keep to the right half of the trail in the tunnel and on curves, avoid train tracks, and stay on the main parts of overpass bridges. One intersection is crossed and local traffic control will be provided.
Awards are offered for overall top three male and female runners by gun time, masters winners by chip time, top walkers by chip time, and age group top three placings across specified age categories. A children s "Kids Sparkler" heat is offered for ages 10 and under. The event benefits the American Heart Association. Additional information noted by the organizer includes early packet pickup at a local running store, raffle baskets with ticket pricing, and a virtual shirt pickup option after the event.
