Freedom 5K - Greensburg
The event is a community 5K held on July 4, 2026 at Lynch Field in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The program includes an in-person 5K Run, an in-person 5K Walk, and a Virtual Freedom 5K that can be completed anytime in July. The event benefits the American Heart Association and offers team registration.
Registration fees differ by date and age category: an early fee of $17.76 applies through March 31, then $20 through June 30, and $25 thereafter; participants 19 and under and those 65 and over pay $20. Pre race entries are capped at 500 with 30 additional spots reserved for early packet pickup and race day circumstances. Shirt sizes are guaranteed through June 22; additional shirt orders are handled through the online store and store pickup at Gingerbreadman Running in Greensburg is arranged separately.
The course is out and back, starting and finishing at Lynch Field. Organizers ask participants to keep to the right half of the trail in the tunnel and on curves. A water station is provided before the one mile mark outbound and after the two mile mark on the return. Participants should avoid train tracks and use the main parts of overpass bridges. City traffic control is provided at one intersection.
Awards and timing: overall top three male and female runners by gun time, masters awards by chip time, top walkers by chip time, and age group awards for multiple categories. A Kids Sparkler for ages ten and under is held on the soccer field lawn. Raffle prizes and door prizes are also part of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
