Event Overview
The Fox Island Triathlon #1 is a multi-sport event held at Fox Island County Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The main event is a sprint triathlon.
Distances
The event features three race formats:
- Sprint Triathlon: 500-yard swim, 12-mile bike, 3.1-mile run.
- Sprint Duathlon: 1-mile run to start, followed by the bike and run legs.
- Sprint Aquabike: The swim and bike legs, finishing in Transition 2.
Relay options are available for the Sprint Triathlon, including 2-person and 3-person teams.
Course Details
Participants swim in Bowman Lake. The bike course uses mostly flat county roads with light rollers and is open to traffic, with police managing key intersections. The run takes place on paved trails within the park and on paved county roads. A time-trial (TT) style start is used, with an optional mass start preceding it for less confident swimmers.
Participant Information
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT). Participants receive a race t-shirt and finishers receive a medal. Age group and overall awards are presented. The event is limited to 500 total participants. Packet pickup and registration are available on race day. Water and aid stations are provided on the run course and near the transition area.
Rules and Logistics
The race follows USAT rules. Helmets approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) are mandatory for the bike leg. Headphones or personal audio devices are not permitted during the race.
