Founding Father's 5K - Washington
The Founding Father's 5K is a holiday run and walk held on July 4 in Washington, North Carolina, at 119 E Water Street. The event serves as the official kick off for the city’s July 4th and 250th Anniversary celebration and takes participants through Washington’s historic streets.
The course follows scenic, historic sections of the city and welcomes both runners and walkers. The event notes participation by people of various ages and fitness levels. A special guest appearance from George Washington is listed as part of the celebration.
Registration opens May 1. Early registration through June 12 has a fee of $25; registration from June 13 until race day has a fee of $30. All registered participants receive an event t-shirt; shirt size is guaranteed through June 12.
Awards include top overall male and top overall female, plus top male and female in the following age groups: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
