Founding Fathers 5K Run & Walk, Vermillion SD
This event is a community 5K run and a 5K walk held as part of Vermillion's Fourth of July celebration. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic gear and costumes.
Registration is open from May 22, 2026 through June 29, 2026. The registration fee is $30 and includes a t shirt, giveaways, and post event fuel. Packet pickup begins on the day of the event at 7:30 a.m.
Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers and for best dressed. An awards ceremony will take place at the main stage at the Shakespeare grotto before the Fourth of July event begins. Age group awards will be presented to the top male and female finisher in the following categories: 12 & Under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70+. The walk is a non competitive event.
The course begins and ends in Prentis Park near the North Shelter. The route runs on West Clark to Carr Street, follows bike paths along Cherry Street to Pine, and returns to Prentis Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
