Forge the Gorge at Fillmore Glen State Park
The Forge the Gorge trail race offers two off-road distances that start near the park entrance and take runners along wooded trails on the north and south rims of the Fillmore Glen Gorge. The route includes a short stretch on a quiet park road and a section where the trail drops into the gorge and crosses the creek repeatedly via a series of bridges. The course is marked and has water stops.
Distances:
- 3-mile course
- 8-mile course
The 8-mile course consists of two scenic, partially overlapping loops; the 3-mile route separates from the long course partway and heads to the finish. Runners should expect steep stairs in the first and last miles and uneven footing. Restrooms, showers, and a swimming area are available at Fillmore Glen State Park. Bib pick-up is at the main pavilion, 1686 Route 38, Moravia, NY 13118; parking requires an Empire Pass or an $8 vehicle fee.
Online registration is required and remains open until two hours before the race; there is no in-person registration. Entry fees are $20, with a $5 discount for FLRC members and free registration for runners 18 and under. A coupon code can waive the fee for those with financial need. Results are posted via Webscorer. Awards are given by overall and by age-category divisions spanning Open, Masters (40–49), Vets (50–59), and Super Vets (60+). The race counts toward FLRC trail-circuit standings. No dogs, headphones, or jogging strollers are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
