Footsteps for Families 5k

Event Overview
The Footsteps for Families event takes place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois. It is the second annual edition of this community gathering.
Available Events
Participants can choose from several activities:
- 5K Competitive Race: A timed race. The top three overall male and female finishers receive monetary prizes ($150, $100, $50). Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age category.
- 5k Walk: A non-competitive, untimed walking event.
- Kid's Fun Run/Walk: A free 100-meter event on the Harlem High School track. All participants receive a medal and a small prize. Participants must be under 10 years old and must register to receive a bib.
Course and Details
The 5k course includes the scenic Willow Creek Path. The route is described as having very few traffic crossings. Specific course directions are sent to registrants. Inline skates and pets are not permitted.
Family Fun Day
In addition to the races, the event features a Family Fun Day. This includes music, free food, games, activities, face painting, and giveaways.
