Fondren Urban Ultra
The Fondren Urban Ultra is a 12-hour timed road race for individual runners. The event takes place in the Fondren neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi. The course consists of a 5 km (3.1 mile) loop run on roads.
Event Details
The race loop begins and ends at Fondren Church. Runners can place their personal supplies there. Participants run as many loops as they can within the 12-hour limit. Only complete loops finished within the time limit are counted.
The course is a USATF-certified loop (MS17010MS). This certification allows for Mississippi state records to be set in the 50 km, 100 km, and 12-hour categories, but only for Mississippi residents.
The event is limited to 165 individual runners. There is no race-day registration. All runners must start at the designated time.
Amenities and Rules
An aid station at the start/finish area provides water, Tailwind drink, and sweet and salty foods. Participants may take breaks but must remain in the designated church parking area during breaks.
Parking is available behind the church. Participants may set up personal tents on the paved area in the front parking lot on race morning.
Awards are given to the first, second, and third place male and female finishers. All participants receive a finisher's medal, with a special distinction for those completing the ultra distance of 9 laps or more. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
