Fertility Matters 6K - 5th Annual
Fertility Matters 6K is a national community movement advocating for accessible and equitable fertility and family-building care across Canada. The 5th annual event takes place on October 18 and 19, 2025, and includes local in-person movements as well as virtual participation from anywhere in Canada.
The event centers on the 6 km distance, chosen to symbolize the one in six Canadians who face challenges building their families. Participants walk, wheel, run, or move in their own way. Funds raised support fertility and family-building awareness, education, and advocacy. This year's fundraising goal is $150,000.
The organizing group engages in policy and advocacy work. Their efforts helped secure a federal commitment to fund up to $20,000 for IVF and have supported provincial initiatives, including new funding programs and tax credits in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and Yukon, as well as British Columbia's first publicly funded fertility program. The organization meets with policymakers, prepares formal government submissions, and is recognized as a stakeholder by Health Canada. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
