Fertility Matters 6K
The 6th Annual Fertility Matters 6K is a national community movement advocating for accessible and equitable fertility and family-building care across Canada. The event takes place on October 3 and 4, 2026, and includes local in-person movements as well as virtual participation from anywhere in Canada.
The 6K distance represents the estimated one in six Canadians who experience difficulty building their families. Funds raised support fertility and family-building awareness, education, and advocacy. This year's fundraising goal is $200,000.
The organization reports concrete advocacy outcomes: it led efforts that secured a federal commitment to fund up to $20,000 for IVF; it has helped launch provincial funding programs and tax credits in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and Yukon; and it supported British Columbia's first publicly funded fertility program. The group prepares formal government submissions, meets with policymakers, and is recognized as a stakeholder by Health Canada.
Event components include local movements across Canada, options to move anywhere in the country, fundraising activities, and social media challenges with hashtags such as #FM6K #Moveforthe1in6 and #WhyWeMove to share participation and raise awareness.
