Flysch Trail Zumaia 2026
The Flysch Trail Zumaia takes place on October 3, 2026, in Zumaia, Gipuzkoa. This trail running event is held within the UNESCO Global Geopark of the Basque Coast, a protected area known for its unique geological formations. The start and finish lines are located at Eusebio Gurrutxaga Plaza.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 24 km: This route features a cumulative elevation gain of 1,007 meters. It includes several aid stations located at Elorriaga (twice), Mendata, Errotaberri, and San Telmo. The maximum altitude reached is 230 meters, and the time limit for completion is 4 hours and 15 minutes.
- 14 km: Also known as the "Zumaia Flysch Trail laburra," this course has a cumulative elevation gain of 487 meters. It reaches a maximum altitude of 216 meters and has a time limit of 3 hours and 45 minutes. Aid stations are positioned at Elorriaga and San Telmo.
The event emphasizes environmental protection. No disposable cups are provided at the aid stations; runners must carry their own drinking containers. Furthermore, participants are required to mark their bib number on all energy bars and gels. Waste must be deposited strictly in the provided containers near the aid stations.
The organization provides a luggage storage service at the start/finish area and shower facilities at the Lubaki sports center. Registration is divided into specific windows for women/non-binary participants, juniors, and men, with a total limit of 650 runners across both distances.
