About the race
The Flying Acorn Trail Run is an annual trail running event held at the newly developed Squirrel Hills Trail Park near Minnedosa, Manitoba. Set in the scenic Little Saskatchewan River Valley, the race offers three distances: 5K, 10K, and a half marathon (21.1K). The course features a mix of fast, flowy trails combining decades-old double track and new single track, with elevation gains ranging from about 90m for the 5K to 380m for the half marathon.
The event is spectator-friendly, with a new trailhead, children's play area, and multiple cheering spots. Aid stations provide hydration and snacks, and all finishers receive prizes, including custom wood medals. The race fosters a supportive, joyful atmosphere for both new and experienced trail runners.
