Flying Acorn Trail Run at Squirrel Hills Trail Park
Flying Acorn takes place in Squirrel Hills Trail Park in Minnedosa, MB, on lands within Treaty 2 Anishinaabe territory and the homelands of Rolling River and the Red River Métis. The event offers three trail race distances and focuses on on-trail running experiences.
Distances offered
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 10K (about 10.6 km)
- 5K (about 5.4 km)
Trails combine decades-old double track and newer single track with grass and dirt surfaces and variable elevation. The 10K has roughly 190 m of elevation gain, the 5K about 90 m, and the half marathon follows the 10K route twice for approximately 380 m of total gain. Two aid stations are placed along the 10K route supplying water, electrolytes and snacks so runners on the long course have up to four opportunities to use aid. 5K runners encounter an aid station near the halfway point. The event is cupless and participants should bring their own water bottle.
Event features include a new official race shirt, a custom finisher medal for all runners, awards for top three male and female finishers, post race pizza, on-course professional photos, and points toward the Manitoba Association of Trail Runners annual total.
