Fleet Half Marathon
The Fleet Half Marathon is an established road race in North Hampshire, first held in 1982. Organised by the Fleet & Crookham AC, the event utilizes a gently undulating, traffic-free course designed to support runners seeking personal best times. The route is the same as previous years and serves as a preparation event for spring marathons.
The event features a single distance:
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
The race is conducted under a UK Athletics licence and has a strict three-hour time limit due to road closure agreements. If participants fall behind this limit, they are required to move to the pavement to allow roads to be reopened. For timing, the event uses the ChampionChip system to provide each runner with a personal time.
Course support includes four water stations, with three offering cups and one providing bottles. A team of pace makers is available for various finish times ranging from 1:30 to 2:20. To ensure safety, the use of in-ear or over-ear headphones is prohibited, though bone-conducting headphones that do not cover the ears are permitted.
The race arena is located in Calthorpe Park, which is accessible from Fleet town centre car parks and the local mainline train station. Professional medical support is provided by St. John Ambulance. Finishers receive an 8cm medal and professional race photography is included for all participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
