Fleet Half Marathon
The Fleet Half Marathon is a long-standing road race in North Hampshire, first established in 1982. Organized by the Fleet & Crookham AC, the event utilizes a gently undulating course designed for speed. The route is primarily traffic-free, though some sections may have traffic moving in the opposite direction to runners. The event is held under a UK Athletics Race Licence and follows a course that remains consistent with previous years.
Available distances:
- Half marathon (approx. 21.1 km)
The race features professional ChampionChip timing, providing each participant with a personal finish time. To assist runners in meeting specific time goals, pace makers are available for finish times ranging from 1:30 to 2:20 at ten-minute intervals (with an additional 1:45 marker). The event has a strict three-hour time limit due to road closure agreements. Participants who fall behind this limit are required to move to the pavement to allow roads to reopen.
Four water stations are positioned along the route, providing water in cups at the first three locations and bottles at the fourth. All participants receive a bottle of water upon crossing the finish line. The organizers provide professional medical support through St. John Ambulance and offer free professional race photography.
The race arena is located in Calthorpe Park, which is accessible from the town center car parks and the local mainline train station. While in-ear and over-ear headphones are prohibited due to safety regulations on single carriageway roads, bone-conducting headphones are permitted.
