Flat Branch Ultra - Columbia, Missouri
Flat Branch Ultra offers two trail distances in Columbia, Missouri: a 25K and a 50K. The 50K course is USATF certified and follows rails-to-trails routes along the Missouri River, using the MKT Trail until it meets the Katy Trail west of McBaine, then continuing west on the Katy Trail as an out-and-back. Runners pass the approximately 400-year-old Bur Oak at about 8.5 miles into the course.
The race uses Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at 800 West Stadium Blvd as the start and finish location. The field is limited to 125 spots. The 50K offers $500 cash awards to the overall male and female winners. The 25K is not USATF certified.
Aid stations are positioned along the course, including the Start/Finish Line aid station, Scott Blvd, Bur Oak, and the Halfway Home aid station. Drop bags left at the start/finish are transported to the Halfway Home aid station and returned after the turnaround. All 50K competitors must check in at the Halfway Home aid station by the posted cutoff; failure to check in may result in disqualification. All competitors are required to sign a USATF waiver at packet pickup. Finisher awards and top-three overall awards are presented at the finish line, and a photographer will post event images at no charge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
