Flat Branch Ultra
The Flat Branch Ultra takes place in Columbia, Missouri on February 20, 2027, with the start and finish at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park, 800 West Stadium Blvd. The event offers two distances:
- Flat Branch 25K
- Flat Branch 50K
The 50K is a USATF certified rails to trails course that follows the MKT Trail for about 7.5 miles before joining the Katy Trail west of McBaine. The out and back route runs along the Missouri River beneath bluffs and passes an approximately 400 year old Bur Oak near mile 8.5. Wildlife such as eagles may be visible along sections of the route.
Aid stations are positioned along the course including the start/finish, Scott Boulevard, Bur Oak, and the Halfway Home aid station. Drop bags placed at the start will be transported to Halfway Home and returned after the turnaround. Competitors must check in at the Halfway Home turnaround; failure to check in will result in disqualification.
The race limits entries to 125 runners and registration closes February 17. Awards include finisher recognition and top three overall male and female prizes for both distances, with $500 cash awards for overall male and female winners in the 50K. Photographs from the course and finish line will be posted at no charge.
