Event details

Flat Branch Ultra is a USATF-certified 50K held in Columbia, Missouri on February 21, 2026. The event is organized by Flat Branch Ultra and Ha Ha Racing Events, with Fleet Feet Columbia and Fleet Feet Jefferson City listed as title sponsors. Entry is limited to 125 spots.

Course and race logistics

The course is a rails-to-trails out-and-back that follows the MKT (Missouri-Kansas-Texas) Trail for about 7.5 miles before joining the Katy Trail just west of McBaine, then continuing west to Rocheport and returning to Columbia. Runners pass the approximately 400-year-old Bur Oak near mile 8.5 and run alongside the Missouri River and river bluffs. The course is USATF-certified through December 31, 2035, making performances eligible for official record considerations.

Aid stations are located at the start/finish (mile 0 and mile 31), Scott Blvd (miles 3.25 and 25.5), Bur Oak (miles 8.5 and 20.5), and Halfway Home (mile 15.5). Drop bags left at the start/finish will be transported to the Halfway Home aid station and returned after the turnaround. All competitors must check in at the Halfway Home aid station by noon or face disqualification. Packet pickup is available on race day at the start/finish location. Finisher awards and top-three overall male and female awards are presented at the finish; awards will not be mailed. Photos will be taken on course and at the finish and made available at no charge. No refunds are offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
