Firecracker Run - Excelsior
The Firecracker Run is a Fourth of July running event organized by the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce, held at Excelsior Elementary School on July 4, 2026. The event offers three distance options and routes that run along the shores of Lake Minnetonka and through the historic streets of Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven, and Greenwood. The course is on open roads and vehicles will be present.
Distances offered:
- 10k: scenic route along Lake Minnetonka and historic streets
- 5k: community 5 kilometer course through town
- 1 Mile: family-friendly one mile route
Packet pick-up, registration, and merchandise sales are available at the Excelsior Elementary School gymnasium on the day before the race and on race day. Participants in the 10k and 5k receive timing services, a race bib, a 2026 race shirt (option available), a medal, and a popsicle while supplies last. 1 Mile participants receive a race bib, a finishers medal, and a popsicle while supplies last. The registration option that includes a shirt closes on June 17; a limited number of shirts may be available for purchase at packet pick-up.
Post-race activities take place in the Excelsior Commons and include food and drink vendors, a photo booth, face painting, and a petting zoo. A Kid's Parade lines up at Kowalski's parking lot and marches down Water Street to the Excelsior Commons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
