Event Overview
The Firecracker Run is a community athletic event held in Excelsior, Minnesota, as part of the local 4th of July celebrations. Participants can select from three different course distances that navigate the scenic areas surrounding Lake Minnetonka and several historic local communities.
Route and Location
The courses lead runners through the streets of Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven, and Greenwood. The routes offer views of the Lake Minnetonka shoreline. The event utilizes an open road course, meaning vehicles remain on the streets during the race. The primary hub for the event is Excelsior Elementary School.

Participant Information
Timing services and race bibs are provided for the 10 km and 5 km events. All finishers across the three distances receive a medal and a popsicle while supplies last. Depending on the registration selection made before the mid-June deadline, participants may also receive a race shirt.
Event Festivities
The event includes various post-race activities held in the Excelsior Commons until early afternoon. These festivities feature food and drink vendors, a photo booth, face painting, and a petting zoo. A kid's parade also takes place through downtown Excelsior following the conclusion of the running events.
Logistics
Limited parking is available at Excelsior Elementary School and the nearby East lot. Additional public parking is located in the West Drive parking garage and via street parking throughout the city. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
