Excelsior Firecracker Run presented by Highmark Builders
The Excelsior Firecracker Run takes place on July 4, 2026, with event activities centered at Excelsior Elementary School and the Excelsior Commons. The event includes a morning running program and an afternoon community festival in the commons area.
Distances offered
- 10k: scenic route along the shores of Lake Minnetonka and historic streets.
- 5k: community 5 kilometer course through Excelsior area neighborhoods.
- 1 Mile: family-friendly one mile route.
Participant information notes that 10k and 5k entries receive timing services, a race bib, a 2026 race shirt option, a medal, and a popsicle while supplies last. 1 Mile participants receive a race bib, a finishers medal, and a popsicle while supplies last. The registration option that includes a shirt closes at the end of the day on June 17, and a limited number of shirts may be available for purchase during packet pick-up.
Additional event features include packet pick-up, registration and merchandise sales held at Excelsior Elementary School on the days surrounding the event, a Kid’s Parade that travels from Kowalski’s down Water Street to the Excelsior Commons, and post-race activities such as food and drink vendors, photo opportunities, face painting, and a petting zoo.
