Excelsior Firecracker Run
The Excelsior Firecracker Run, presented by Highmark Builders, is a Fourth of July road race held on July 4, 2027 at Excelsior Elementary School. Courses run along the shores of Lake Minnetonka and through the historic streets of Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven and Greenwood. The event uses open roads and vehicles will be on the streets.

Participant items listed by the organizer include timing services, a race bib, a race shirt option, a medal, and a popsicle for some distances; 1 Mile participants receive a race bib, a finishers medal, and a popsicle. The "with shirt" registration option closes at the end of day June 17; a limited quantity of shirts may be available at the merchandise table during packet pick-up on a first-come, first-served basis. The organizer notes items offered are while supplies last.
Packet pick-up, registration, and merchandise sales are held in the Excelsior Elementary School gymnasium on the day before and the morning of the race. A family festival takes place in the Excelsior Commons after the race, featuring food and drink, photo opportunities, face painting, a petting zoo, and other activities. A kid's parade hosted by Primrose School lines up at Kowalski's parking lot, marches down Water Street, and finishes in the Excelsior Commons.
