Excelsior Firecracker Run presented by Highmark Builders
The Excelsior Firecracker Run is a community running event held on July 4, 2027 at Excelsior Elementary School. Routes run along the shores of Lake Minnetonka and through the historic streets of Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven and Greenwood. The organizer notes this is an open road course and vehicles will be on the streets.
Multiple distances are offered:
- 10k
- 5k
- 1 Mile
Participant benefits listed by the organizer vary by distance. The 10k and 5k entries include timing services, a race bib, a 2026 race shirt, a medal, and a popsicle while supplies last. The 1 Mile entry includes a race bib, a finishers medal, and a popsicle while supplies last. A no shirt registration option is available. The organizer states the registration option with shirt closes at the end of day June 17 and a limited number of shirts may be sold at packet pick-up.
Packet pick-up and on-site registration take place at Excelsior Elementary School on the day before the race and the race day. Post-race activities occur in the Excelsior Commons and include food and drink options, photo opportunities, face painting, a petting zoo and other family activities. A kids parade organized by Primrose Schools marches down Water Street to the Commons, and an evening fireworks display is held at the Excelsior Commons.
