Firecracker 5K : Woodstock, VT

The Firecracker 5K is the inaugural Ottauquechee River Trail (ORT) event held in Woodstock as part of the town's 250th celebration honoring the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is a walk/run intended as a fun run and will be untimed. Proceeds will support ongoing maintenance of the Ottauquechee River Trail.

The course follows the Ottauquechee River from the ORT kiosk at 0 Maxham Meadow Way. The route is described as mostly flat and suitable for walking or running. Along the way the trail passes hay fields, a vernal pool, and a roughly 150 year old rail bed. The event is family friendly. Dogs are not allowed to participate.

Registration opens January 29, 2026 and closes July 4, 2026. Registration will be limited to the first 250 entrants and the fee is $30. Parking is available but limited at East End Park and Sunset Farms. Beverages and snacks will be available after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
