Finger Lakes Triathlon Cayuga
This event takes place at Taughannock Falls State Park in the Finger Lakes region near Trumansburg, New York. The park offers public swimming, a beach, a large playground, shaded picnic areas, hiking trails, a marina with a boat ramp, and tent, RV, and cabin camping.
All swim legs take place in Cayuga Lake on an out-and-back course from the park's south shore. Course maps are indicative; actual race routes are measured precisely. Relay entries are offered for some distances.
Distances and formats include:
- Intermediate: 1500 meter swim, 24.3 mile bike, 10K run
- Intermediate Aquabike: 1500 meter swim, 24.3 mile bike
- Sprint: 750 meter swim, 14 mile bike, 5K run
- Youth 11-17: 200 meter swim, 9 mile bike, 1.5 mile run
- Youth 8-10: 100 meter swim, 2.5 mile bike, 0.9 mile run
- Youth 5-7: 50 meter swim, 2.5 mile bike, 0.5 mile run
Bike courses generally head north on New York State Route 89 and return to the park; specific turn points vary by distance. Run courses use routes inside the park and include sections near the Gorges Trail and the base trail to the falls, which are relatively flat despite mapping artifacts that suggest large elevation gain.
