Events
The Finger Lakes Duathlon Watkins Glen includes two individual events and a relay:
- Formula 1 Duathlon: A run-bike-run-bike-run format.
- Classic Duathlon: A run-bike-run format.
- F1 Relay: A three-person team event.
Venue and Course
The event takes place at the Watkins Glen International race track, a historic circuit that hosts NASCAR events and has roots in Formula 1 racing. It is held during Porsche Clash weekend, and registration includes the opportunity to watch the Porsche event on the track beforehand. Pit Row serves as the transition area.
The course uses the race track and the infield roads and pathways. The track varies in width and features banked turns with elevation changes.
Formula 1 Duathlon distances:
- Run: Three separate legs of 1.7 miles each.
- Bike: Two separate legs of 10.2 miles each.
- Total distance: 5.1 miles running and 20.4 miles biking.
Classic Duathlon distances:
- Run: Two separate legs of 1.7 miles each.
- Bike: One leg of 10.2 miles.
- Total distance: 3.4 miles running and 10.2 miles biking.
The bike course consists of three laps of the 3.4-mile track per bike leg. The run course begins on Pit Row, goes through the infield via a pedestrian tunnel, and returns to transition over a footbridge.
Additional Information
The F1 Relay follows the same Formula 1 Duathlon course format with a three-person team. Registration for the relay involves a team captain who creates the team and pays the fee, after which team members can join. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
