Purpose and beneficiary
The event is organized to raise money for the Parkinson’s community. One hundred percent of proceeds go directly to Rock Steady Boxing (RSB). Rock Steady Boxing is a boxing-inspired, non-contact exercise program for people with Parkinson's disease. The program emphasizes strength, balance, and overall conditioning using boxing drills, stretching, bicycling, and jumping rope to help manage symptoms and provide a supportive community.
Parkinson's disease is described as a progressive neurological condition that causes tremors, slow movement, muscle rigidity, and impaired balance due to loss of dopamine-producing brain cells. The event notes that there is no cure and that about 90,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease each year.
