Ferrara Marathon
The Ferrara Marathon takes place in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Ferrara. The event features multiple race distances that traverse the historic center, known as a prominent example of Renaissance urban planning. The course includes landmarks such as the Estense Castle, the city walls, and various squares throughout the historic district.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 42 km (Marathon): A competitive race covering the city's Renaissance architecture and historic walls.
- 21 km (Half Marathon): A competitive distance passing through iconic city locations.
- 10 km (Ferrara City Run): A non-competitive run through the city streets.
The event starts at Corso Martiri della Libertà, directly in front of the Estense Castle. The route is officially measured and certified. Registered participants for the competitive distances receive a personalized bib (for early registrations), a disposable timing chip, an official event T-shirt, and a finisher medal inspired by the city's "diamond" symbolism.
Support services include pacers for the 42 km and 21 km races, multiple refreshment stations along the route according to federal protocols, a final refreshment area, medical assistance, and bag storage. Entry also includes access to participating local museums. The city is noted for its car-free vibes and runner-friendly infrastructure.
