Extreme North Dakota Sandhills Ultra Run Experience (END-SURE)
The Extreme North Dakota Sandhills Ultra Run Experience, also known as END-SURE, is a trail running event located in the Sheyenne National Grasslands. Established as the first ultramarathon in North Dakota, the race takes place approximately 45 minutes southwest of Fargo, with the event base at the Jorgen's Hollow Campground near McLeod.
The course features a variety of terrain including wide open prairie, pockets of forest, and rolling sandhills. For the longest distance, the route typically incorporates the entire Sheyenne National Grasslands section of the North Country Trail.
Participants can choose from several race distances:
- 25 km
- 50 km
- 100 km
Registration for the event follows a tiered pricing structure and closes on the Wednesday of race week. There is no registration available on the day of the race. To maintain the nature of the experience, the total number of participants is capped at 120 runners across all distances. The event is part of the UMTR Ultra Series.
