- 53 miles
- 50K
Registration includes shuttle to the start, a post-race meal, a finisher award, and free camping at the fairgrounds. The event operates in partnership with Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and lists the Baker City high school cross country/track team and a local 4x4 group as beneficiaries.
Course, logistics and rules
The 53-mile course follows the Elkhorn Mountain ridgeline across sub-alpine forests and grasslands. The route features panoramic views of Baker Valley, the Wallowas, and the Blue Mountains. The course mixes smooth single track with rocky, technical sections. The 53-mile race averages over 7,200 ft elevation and includes about 10,500 ft of climbing and almost 11,000 ft of descent. The 50K follows the same route from Bourne and continues to the finish after Aid Station 3, with roughly 6,500 ft of gain and 7,100 ft of loss.
Runners must use the provided shuttle from the fairgrounds to the start; there is no runner drop-off at the start and crews may not drop off runners. The event is cupless; runners should bring their own cup or bottle. Mandatory gear for 50-mile entrants includes the ability to carry 1.5 liters of fluid, a jacket, an emergency blanket, and a headlamp with extra batteries. 50K runners must be able to carry 1.5 liters of fluid; other items are recommended.
