Elk River Braxton County Event Overview
The Elk River Braxton County Monster Marathon takes place in Gassaway, West Virginia. The event features multiple distance options that utilize the Elk River Trail, providing a course layout through the local landscape. Participants can choose from the following physical race categories:
- Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K Run/Walk
The course is described as a flat and fast route. For the Full Marathon and Half Marathon distances, there is a 7 hour time limit for completion. In addition to the in-person races, a Virtual Race option is available where participants select their own distance. For the virtual event, times are not submitted, and medals and shirts are mailed after the conclusion of the races.
All participants who finish their respective events receive a high quality race shirt, provided registration occurs before the guaranteed deadline of August 30. Finishers also receive a medal and post-race refreshments, including water and snacks. Packet pickup is conducted on the morning of the event at the Gassaway Depot starting at 6:30 AM.
