Event overview
The Elephant Rock Trail Run takes place in Mueller Park, Bountiful, Utah, on August 8, 2026. The event includes multiple trail distances:
- 50K
- 26.8 Miler
- 13.8 Miler
- 7 Miler
This is the ninth annual running of the event. The race is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. Registration closes July 31.
Courses and logistics
The 50K is a point-to-point mountain course that uses Holbrook Canyon Trail, The Great Western, Sessions Pass, Mill Creek, Kenney Creek, Mueller Park, North Canyon Trail, Rudy’s Flat, and Elephant Rock. The course surface is mostly dirt trails (about 80%), with dirt roads (about 19%) and a small paved section at start/finish (about 1%). The Mueller Park loop (about 16.3 miles for the long half) has roughly +/- 2,516 ft of elevation gain and loss. The 50K reports approximately 8,600 ft of total climb, with about 6,084 ft of climb in the first 15.5 miles. Aid is limited early on; participants on the 50K should be prepared to carry at least 2 liters of water for the initial section. An alternate 50K course may be used if trail conditions require removing the Mill Creek to Kenney Creek connector, in which case the route would include a 15.5-mile out-and-back section plus the 16.3-mile Mueller Park loop. Cutoff and finish policies apply by distance and park rules.
