ECT 50 Ultra Marathon
The ECT 50 is a 50 km coastal trail race in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador. The course follows sections of the East Coast Trail and is described as technically challenging coastal running. Proceeds from the event are donated to the East Coast Trail Association.
Race check in is held in Quidi Vidi, with buses providing drop off at the starting line. Participants may hand in a labeled drop bag at check in to be available at the Middle Cove Beach aid station. There is also a starting line drop off for items to be recovered at the finish in Pouch Cove.
There are three aid stations at Flatrock, Middle Cove Beach, and the Logy Bay Marine Lab. Aid stations will provide water and electrolytes; additional food items depend on volunteer contributions. This is a cupless race, so runners are expected to carry water containers and their own fuel. A whistle and a cellphone are required to be carried during the race and must be presented at check in. Support crews are allowed but may only meet runners at designated aid stations. Items discarded at aid stations can be recovered at the finish.
Registration and bib numbers are nontransferable. If the event is cancelled, refunds less service fees or rollover registrations may be offered. Participants who collect trail litter during the race are eligible to receive a bottle of tonic at the finish provided by a sponsor. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
