About the race
The ECT 50 Ultra Marathon is a 50 km trail race held in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador on October 24, 2026. The route follows coastal sections of the East Coast Trail and is described as technically challenging terrain. Race proceeds are donated to the East Coast Trail Association.
Race check in takes place in Quidi Vidi, with bus transport provided to the starting area. Participants may leave a labeled drop bag at check in; those bags can be collected at the Middle Cove Beach aid station. A starting line drop off for items destined for the finish will be collected in Pouch Cove and returned to the finish area. Items may also be discarded at any aid station for later recovery at the finish.
There are three aid stations located at approximate route markers: Flatrock (16.5 km), Middle Cove Beach (31 km) and the Marine Lab (43 km). Aid stations will provide water and electrolytes; additional food items may be supplied by volunteers. This is a cupless race, so participants must carry their own water containers and necessary fuel. Support crews are permitted and may meet runners only at the aid stations.
Runners are required to carry a whistle and a cellphone and present them at check in. Registration closed on July 1, 2026. Registration and bib numbers are not transferable. If the event is cancelled, refunds less service fees or rollover registration will be offered. Participants who collect trail trash may receive a free bottle of tonic at the finish from Third Place Cocktail Company. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
