About the race
ECT 50 Ultra Marathon is a 50 km trail race in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, held on October 24, 2026. The event raises funds for the East Coast Trail Association. The course follows coastal trail terrain and is described as technically challenging.
Race check in is held in Quidi Vidi, with buses transporting runners to the starting area in Pouch Cove. Bib numbers and chip timing are provided; bibs are available for pickup during the week before the race at The Outfitters downtown St. John’s location during regular store hours. Registration closed on July 1, 2026. Registration and bib numbers cannot be transferred; refunds (less service fees) or rollover registration will be offered if the event is cancelled.
Runners must carry a cellphone and a whistle. Support is allowed only at designated aid stations. This is a cupless race, so runners should carry water containers and be prepared to carry their own fuel. Three aid stations are listed with approximate course markers: Flatrock at about 16.5 km (presented by Paradise Running Club), Middle Cove Beach at about 31 km (presented by Athletics North East), and Logy Bay Marine Lab at about 43 km (presented by Stride Running). Drop bag procedures include a Middle Cove Beach aid station drop and a starting-line drop for items to be recovered at the finish; drop bags must be clearly labeled. Volunteers contribute food at aid stations, and a trail trash pickup initiative includes a complimentary bottle of tonic from Third Place Cocktail Company for those who contribute.
