East Leake Sprint Triathlon
The event runs at East Leake Leisure Centre and is in its 23rd year. It offers multiple race formats on the same venue and course, including sprint triathlon, junior/youth categories, aquabike, aquathlon and relay teams. The main sprint distances are a 400 m pool swim, a 22 km on-road bike and a 5 km mixed-surface run.
Key race features include:
- Sprint: 400 m swim, 22 km bike, 5 km run
- Junior/Youth (15-19 yrs): 400 m swim, 22 km bike, 5 km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 400 m swim, 22 km bike
- Sprint Aquathlon: 400 m swim, 5 km run
- Relay teams: 400 m swim, 22 km bike, 5 km run
The swim takes place in a 4-lane 25 m pool. Swimmers are grouped by estimated 400 m time into small waves; competitors are responsible for counting their own lengths and will exit through a marked fire exit to a short run to transition on tarmac and grass. The 22 km bike route is an out-and-back, undulating on-road circuit that is not on closed roads and includes marshalled turns. The 5 km run is three one-mile laps on pavement and hard-packed bridleway.
Event services and provisions described include a fully marked course, professional chip timing and online results, medical and safety crews, food and coffee vendors, independent sports retailers, spectator-friendly arena with disabled access and parking, toilets and baby changing, and an eco-friendly finisher medal. Prizes are awarded in overall and age-group categories, with specific prizes for aquabike, aquathlon and first-time triathletes. A Beginners Workshop with a coached swim session at the venue is offered with a date to be confirmed and limited spaces. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
