Event Overview
The East Devon Round is a trail running festival held over the first bank holiday weekend in May. The 2026 event takes place from 1st to 3rd May. The event base is Offwell Village Hall in Honiton.
Distances
The event offers four main trail running routes:
- East Devon Round (Full): approximately 68 miles with 10,815 feet of elevation gain. It has 9 aid stations and is a UTMB Index Race.
- East Devon Half Round: approximately 38 miles with 5,968 feet of elevation gain and 5 aid stations.
- The Other Half: approximately 31 miles with 4,598 feet of elevation gain and 5 aid stations. This route is invitation-only for previous competitors.
- EDR Quarter Round: approximately 15 miles with 2,018 feet of elevation gain and 2 aid stations. This is a new course for 2026.
All courses pass through three National Landscapes (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The routes are marked, but runners must have backup navigation.
Event Weekend
The weekend includes a Friday night gathering with a feast and guest speaker, race day on Saturday, and a Sunday Big Breakfast alongside a non-competitive East Devon Mini Round. Camping is available at the event base for £10 per tent. Weekend meal tickets can be purchased.
Entry and Logistics
Entry fees vary by distance and UK Athletics affiliation. Age restrictions follow England Athletics guidance. There is no minimum entry standard, but experience in trail events is expected for the longer distances. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association (license number 7838).
Mandatory kit is required, including waterproof jacket, headtorch, and water capacity. Live GPS tracking is provided for the Full, Half, and Other Half routes. Aid stations and cut-off times are in place to manage volunteer resources. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
