Trail Running Festival in East Devon
The East Devon Round is a multi-distance trail running event based at Offwell Village Hall near Honiton. The festival takes place over a weekend in early May and traverses through three National Landscapes and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and follows UK Athletics rules.
The festival offers several distinct course lengths:
- 110 km (Full Round): Approximately 68 miles with 3,296 metres of elevation.
- 60 km (Half Round): Approximately 38 miles with 1,819 metres of elevation.
- 50 km (The Other Half): Approximately 31 miles with 1,401 metres of elevation (invitation only).
- 25 km (EDR QTR): Approximately 15 miles with 615 metres of elevation.
- Mini Round: A charity run held on the final morning of the event.
The routes consist of countryside tracks, paths through bluebell woods, and coastal sections. While courses are marked, participants are expected to be capable of self-navigation using GPX files on a watch or phone. Most distances utilize GPS trackers for live progress monitoring. Aid stations are situated along all routes, and specific cut-off times are enforced at checkpoints.
Event headquarters at Offwell Village Hall provides on-site camping on the playing field, showers, and indoor amenities. The weekend includes social activities such as a Friday night feast and a breakfast on Sunday morning. Parking is available at the headquarters, which is located near the A35 and approximately two miles from Honiton train station. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
