Dude Peak Derby Trail Race : Salt Lake City foothills

The Dude Peak Derby is a 16-mile trail race with about 4,000 feet of elevation gain that starts and finishes at Memory Grove Park in Salt Lake City. The course climbs into City Creek Canyon, follows sections of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and singletrack to Ensign Peak, then continues on ridgeline trails toward Dude Peak before turning around short of the U.S. Forest Service boundary.

Runners will encounter steep climbs, technical singletrack, ridgeline running, and steep descents. The route includes road and singletrack segments near radio towers and returns via City Creek trail to the finish at Memory Grove Park. The turnaround is located before the NFS boundary so the actual summit is not accessed.

This is a self-supported, cupless event; participants should carry their own hydration and nutrition. A water cache or aid support will be provided on the tower road; runners should plan a hydration and calorie strategy accordingly and pack out all trash.

Entry fees are tiered by date: $50 early entry, rising to $60 and $70 in later periods. Prize money is offered for top finishers in male and female categories. Bib pickup is available the day before at Sugar House Park and on race morning. Parking guidance suggests using East Capitol Boulevard and walking to the start. A 7-hour total race time is used as a course clearance guideline. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
