The Dresden Marathon has been held annually in October since 1999, taking participants on a flat, fast circuit through the Saxon state capital. The course offers impressive views of the historic Old Town and the New Town, known for its pubs and Gründerzeit architecture. In addition to the classic marathon, there is also a marathon relay, a half marathon, a 10 km run, and a tenth marathon (4.2 km).
