About the Event

The 3.21 Down Syndrome Dash is an annual running event organized by Upside Downs, taking place on March 21 in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The 2026 edition is the fifth annual event. The event address is 211 Rue Betancourt, Thibodaux, LA 70301.

The running event consists of two parts: a 5k run followed immediately by an additional 0.11-mile fun dash, combining for a total of 3.21 miles. The total distance is symbolic, representing the three copies of the 21st chromosome.

The event includes the following participant categories:

  • 5k Race
  • Fun Dash/General Admission
  • Individual with Down syndrome (free registration)
  • Jambalaya Team

After the running portion, the event features a celebration with live music. The musical lineup includes performances by Nashville South and Flow Tribe, supported by a grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation's Community Partnership Grant program. Other post-race activities include a jambalaya cook-off, food and beverage offerings, and face painting. A note encourages participants to wear "crazy socks." Registration is final and non-refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
