DNA 5K
The DNA 5K is a fundraising running event held on September 19, 2026, in Indianapolis, at Half Liter BBQ, 5301 Winthrop Ave, IN 46220. The event supports advanced DNA testing intended to assist investigations into cold case homicides and missing person cases. It is presented in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana, a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
The event program includes a 5K run/walk on a flat course that follows the Monon and a short kids run of about 50 yards recommended for children who are too small to do a 5K. Registration opens on April 1, 2026, and fees listed by the organizer are $30.00 for the 5K and $15.00 for the kids run. Registration closing dates differ by event.
The organizer notes there are many unresolved cold case homicides and missing person cases in Indiana and that advanced DNA testing can be costly, sometimes running into the tens of thousands of dollars for a single case depending on needs.
