DNA 5K
The DNA 5K is a fundraising run and walk held in Indianapolis on September 19, 2026, at Half Liter BBQ, 5301 Winthrop Ave. The event includes a short kids run and a 5K course.
The event offers these distances:
- DNA 5K Run/Walk: 3.1 Miles
- Kids Run: About 50 yards
The 5K follows a flat course along the Monon. The kids run is recommended for children who are too small to complete the 5K.
Registration details are provided for each event. For the 5K, registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes June 18, 2026; the listed registration fee is $30. For the kids run, registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes July 13, 2026; the listed registration fee is $15.
Proceeds support advanced DNA testing to assist investigations into cold case homicides and missing person cases in Indiana. The event notes that tests can cost tens of thousands of dollars per case and that there are over 7,000 cold case homicides and over 1,200 missing person cold cases in Indiana.
