DNA 5K: Run for 'Hope', Stand for Justice
The DNA 5K is a fundraising running event held in Indianapolis on September 19, 2026, at Half Liter BBQ, 5301 Winthrop Ave. The event title is Run for 'Hope', Stand for Justice and it includes a main 5K run/walk and a short kids run.
The 5K course follows a flat route along the Monon. The kids run is about 50 yards and is recommended for children too small to complete a 5K. Registration fees listed for the events are $30 for the 5K and $15 for the kids run.
The event aims to raise money for advanced DNA testing to support investigations into cold case homicides and missing person cases in Indiana. The organizer notes there are over 7,000 cold case homicides and over 1,200 missing person cold cases in Indiana. DNA testing costs can reach tens of thousands of dollars per case depending on needs.
